Felton Newell is an experienced trial attorney who provides sophisticated legal counsel to corporate and individual clients. In his nearly 25 years of practice, Mr. Newell has successfully represented clients in complex business litigation, entertainment litigation and employment litigation matters.

Mr. Newell has represented Fortune 100 companies, entrepreneurs and high net worth individuals in every phase of litigation including trial.

Trial Experience

For six years, Mr. Newell honed his trial skills in the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office, where he first-chaired more than 30 criminal trials to a jury verdict. In private practice, Mr. Newell has first or second-chaired more than 15 bench and jury trials in state and federal court.

Employment Disputes

Mr. Newell has represented employers in numerous employment matters involving race, gender, age, and disability discrimination claims as well as claims related to the classification of individuals as independent contractors. Mr. Newell’s has advised employers prior to litigation, drafted and argued successful motions for summary judgment and successfully represented employers in jury and bench trials.

Entertainment Disputes

Mr. Newell has represented entities and individuals, including production companies and streaming services in various entertainment disputes involving contract disputes, trademark disputes and licensing agreements.

Business Litigation

Mr. Newell has represented clients in a range of general business litigation disputes including causes of action related to contract disputes, real estate disputes, environmental disputes, false advertising, and defamation claims.

Prior to Sanders Roberts LLP, Mr. Newell practiced law at several national law firms including Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy and Glaser Weil.

Mr. Newell began his professional career as a legislative staff assistant in President Bill Clinton’s White House. Mr. Newell then attended the University of Chicago Law School, where he had President Barack Obama as a law professor. In law school, Mr. Newell won the Thomas R. Mulroy Prize for excellence in appellate advocacy.

Mr. Newell was selected for inclusion by his peers in Super Lawyers in the area of Business Litigation in 2022 and 2023.
