Mr. Sanders was appointed as a member of the USC Gould School of Law Board of Councilors. Mr. Sanders was inducted into the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) as a member of the Los Angeles Chapter in 2024. He also was elected as a member of the Board of Governors of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers (ABTL).
Mr. Sanders represents Fortune 100 corporations, businesses and individuals in an array of litigation matters, including general commercial matters, breach of contract and fiduciary duty claims, catastrophic accidents, negligence, misrepresentation, fraud and criminal investigations. He is known as a forceful trial lawyer and a detailed deposition taker. Some of his clients include Ford Motor Co., JPMorgan Chase, Southern California Edison, Honda Finance, the City of Los Angeles, and a host of other businesses and public entities.
Mr. Sanders was trained at two prestigious international law firms prior to forming Sanders Roberts LLP. Mr. Sanders began his legal career at the Los Angeles office of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP, where he worked on several high-profile cases. At Sheppard Mullin, Mr. Sanders successfully represented businesses and elected officials in litigation and white collar criminal matters, including the defense of several prominent California politicians. After three years at Sheppard Mullin, Mr. Sanders was recruited to government service with the Los Angeles City Attorney Office. At the City Attorneys’ Office, Mr. Sanders served as a chief aide to the City Attorney, oversaw the City’s most important cases and managed the City Attorneys Office’s relationship with private law firms. In this position, he developed close relationships with many of the best lawyers in California.
Mr. Sanders returned to the private sector a few years later, serving as a Senior Associate at the Los Angeles office of Sidley Austin LLP, an international, full-service law firm. At Sidley, he worked closely with the Chair of the Litigation Department. Mr. Sanders represented business owners in an array of matters, including a Hong Kong-based financier in litigation against a land developer. He also represented insurance companies in extremely complex litigation matters.
Mr. Sanders has tried multiple cases to jury verdicts in federal and state court on behalf of Fortune 100 corporations and individual clients. Mr. Sanders is a member of the Trial Law Institute and Diversity Law Insitute, where he is also a member of the Barrister, Order of Veritas. In 2010, for example, Mr. Sanders successfully represented the first Latina neurosurgeon in the history of the State of California in a licensing dispute before the Court of Appeal for the State of California. Since that time, he has represented numerous doctors, acupuncturists, nurses, and other medical professionals in many more administrative matters, lawsuits, and criminal investigations. For those cases that do not end in trial, Mr. Sanders also has achieved very favorable settlements on behalf of his clients. He achieves positive resolutions for his clients by conducting diligent discovery, detailed depositions, precise writing, and proactive case management.
Mr. Sanders graduated from Morehouse College with a degree in political science (Magna Cum Laude/Phi Beta Kappa). He graduated from USC Gould School of Law, where he won the prestigious Crispus Wright Scholarship and the Steven B. Sample Presidential Fellowship, and where he currently serves as a Lecturer In Law in Pretrial Advocacy. In 2023, Mr. Sanders was awarded ‘Alumni Honoree of the Year’ by the USC Gould Black Law Students Association. Also in 2023, Mr. Sanders was appointed as a member of the USC Gould Board of Councilors and as a member of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers’ Board of Governors.
An active member of his community, Mr. Sanders collects art, coaches youth sports, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Watts Learning Center.
