Sarah Takasugi is a Partner with over twenty-five years of experience handling employment and business litigation matters.
 

Sarah specializes in defending employers in all aspects of the employment relationship including single-plaintiff actions, PAGA claims (qui tam actions) and traditional class actions. Sarah routinely handles claims involving allegations of wrongful and constructive terminations, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, pay inequity, wage and hour violations, and governmental agency charges. She also handles investigations and provides employment counseling and guidance on various topics such as terminations, reductions in force, internal investigations, and leaves of absence. Sarah also assists clients in the preparation of employee handbooks, company policies, and arbitration agreements that are compliant with California law and tailored to her clients’ specific business needs.

 

As an experienced business litigator, Sarah has represented oil refineries, banks, real estate brokerage firms, hospitals, accounting firms, architecture firms, talent management companies, manufacturers, and retail businesses, among others. She has successfully defended her clients against a wide variety of legal claims, involving intellectual property (trade dress, copyright infringement), contract, securities, environmental, unfair competition, accounting malpractice, insurance fraud, foreclosures and receiverships, fraudulent concealment, and fraud. Sarah has extensive experience with all aspects of litigation, from inception to resolution, and has been to trial in both state and federal court.


Sarah uses her deep understanding of the legal process to deliver practical and effective solutions that protect the interests and rights of her clients. Sarah handles her client’s cases from inception to resolution and has a track record of obtaining favorable outcomes. She has handled multi-plaintiff mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
